"I Can Hear!"

Shane has been having hearing problems for the last few months. He failed 2 hearing tests at school and 1 at the doctors office. His teacher was worried that he wasn't listening. So we made the appointment with the ENT and his adnoids were 3 times the size of adult adnoids. They were also blocking his ears and that was causing a major build up of fluid. The ENT said shane was hearing like a person hears if someone is talking under the water. No wonder he wasn't listening at school! the poor boy couldn't hear!!! So finally, yesterday was his surgery to have tubes places in his ears and to have his adnoids removed. He did GREAT! The first thing he said to me in the recovery room is "I can hear Mommy!" "I can even hear whispers!" He was in a little pain yesterday, but he was just in amazement all day that he could hear me talking upstairs when he was downstairs. He also kept telling us how different our voices sounded. Shane is doing much better today! He's complaining of a little throat pain, but for the most part, he is running around and playing like normal. It's going to be very hard to limit his activity for the next 7 days. Haha! :)
Here is a picture of him yesterday right before he went back for his surgery. He was so proud of his ID bracelet and wore it all day. LOL! he also collected quite a few doctor supplies yesterday too! :) One doctor gave him a mask, another gave him a surgical mickey mouse mask, and the nurse gave him bandaids and gloves. :)
